The development prospects of BOPET

Since 2002, world demand for BOPET membranes has grown at an average annual rate of 5.6%, with demand reaching 2.1 million tons in 2007. From a geographical perspective, Central and East Asia, including South Korea, Japan and China, have become the largest BOPET film production and consumption regions in the world, accounting for approximately 46% of total demand.

In terms of application fields, flexible packaging is an important application field of BOPET film. Flexible packaging applications account for 49% of the world's total BOPET consumption, a year-on-year increase of 7 percentage points and close to the 2005 level.

The development status of China's polyester film after more than 20 years of development, China's BOPET industry has grown from scratch, from small to large, from more than 10,000 tons/year in the late 1980s to more than 600,000 tons/year today, especially it has been growing rapidly in the past five years, and the market growth rate far exceeds expectations. The sharp growth in global polyester film market demand has driven the polyester film industry into a period of rapid growth, and the scale of China's polyester film industry has also expanded rapidly.
